The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa and Purang is one of the most comfortable, scenic, and spiritually rewarding ways to visit the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Trek Ways Nepal has carefully designed this itinerary to offer the shortest and most convenient route without missing any of Tibet's most important cultural and religious attractions. Unlike traditional overland journeys, this package includes spectacular flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa and from Lhasa to Purang, significantly reducing long driving hours while allowing travelers to enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas and the vast Tibetan Plateau. Before beginning the pilgrimage, you will spend time exploring the ancient city of Lhasa, once known as the "Forbidden City," where you will visit world-famous landmarks including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Drepung Monastery, and Sera Monastery. These historic monasteries and temples provide a deeper understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and help pilgrims gradually acclimatize before heading towards the sacred Mount Kailash region. During the drive from Purang to Lake Mansarovar, you will travel alongside the mystical Rakshas Tal (Rakshas Lake), a place surrounded by fascinating Hindu and Buddhist legends. According to local belief, circling part of Rakshas Tal while keeping the lake on your left side is considered auspicious. Pilgrims traditionally continue to the holy Lake Mansarovar, where taking a sacred bath after visiting Rakshas Tal is believed to bring spiritual purification and blessings. Trek Ways Nepal also arranges a special Havan Puja at the shores of Lake Mansarovar. Our experienced team provides all the required puja materials (Samagri), allowing pilgrims to fully concentrate on their spiritual journey without worrying about preparations.
Comfort and safety are among the highest priorities during this pilgrimage, which is why Trek Ways Nepal offers premium accommodation and excellent services throughout the journey. Guests stay at luxurious hotels, including the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, the InterContinental Hotel in Lhasa, and the renowned Hotel Hotspring near Lake Mansarovar. These carefully selected properties provide superior comfort before and after the physically demanding sections of the pilgrimage. Throughout the overland journey in Tibet, travelers ride in comfortable luxury buses with experienced drivers, while our dedicated Nepali support team prepares fresh Indian vegetarian meals every day. This unique combination of comfortable transportation, familiar cuisine, and experienced local staff makes the journey far more enjoyable than many standard pilgrimage packages. Our experienced Tibetan guide, along with the Trek Ways Nepal team, accompanies you throughout the tour, ensuring smooth logistics, proper acclimatization, and assistance during the sacred three-day Kailash Kora. Every aspect of the journey has been thoughtfully planned to provide a balance of spiritual fulfillment, comfort, safety, and cultural exploration, making this one of the finest Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage experiences available.
To ensure a smooth travel experience, Trek Ways Nepal strongly recommends obtaining your Chinese Tourist Visa (L Category) from your home country before arriving in Nepal. This option saves valuable time and allows you to begin your pilgrimage immediately upon arrival. If obtaining a visa before travel is not possible, Trek Ways Nepal can assist you in applying through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. However, applicants should allow at least four working days for visa processing. During this waiting period, there is no need to remain at the embassy, as our team handles the submission and collection of your passport. Instead, you can take advantage of your extra time by exploring some of Nepal's most popular destinations, including Muktinath, Pokhara, or even a short Everest scenic trek or helicopter experience. Trek Ways Nepal manages all essential Tibet travel arrangements, including the Tibet Travel Permit, Kailash Kora Special Permit, and all required local documentation, while also arranging experienced licensed Tibetan guides for the entire journey. With professional planning, luxury services, reliable logistics, and years of Himalayan travel expertise, Trek Ways Nepal offers one of the most complete, comfortable, and spiritually enriching Kailash Mansarovar Yatra experiences available. If you apply for a Chinese visa in Kathmandu, processing typically takes 3–4 working days. To save time, we strongly recommend obtaining a Chinese Tourist (L Category) Visa in your home country before traveling to Nepal. Accommodation During Kailash Yatra
Trek Ways Nepal provides premium accommodation to ensure maximum comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a luxurious stay at the 5-star Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu and the renowned InterContinental Hotel in Lhasa. As tourism infrastructure is limited in the Mount Kailash region, star-rated hotels are unavailable at Lake Mansarovar, Darchen, and along the Kailash Kora. During the three-day Kora, pilgrims should be prepared for two nights in clean but basic guesthouses, offering simple facilities in this remote Himalayan region.
Transportation During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
Trek Ways Nepal provides comfortable and efficient transportation throughout the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Your journey begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, followed by another breathtaking flight from Lhasa to Purang, reducing long travel hours. During the overland journey in Tibet, we provide a luxury tourist vehicle or coach, depending on the group size. Our comfortable transportation, experienced drivers, and well-planned logistics ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable pilgrimage experience.
Meals During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
Trek Ways Nepal provides carefully planned meals throughout your pilgrimage. In Kathmandu, breakfast and a special farewell dinner are included, while in Lhasa, only breakfast is provided. From Purang onwards, all meals are prepared by our experienced Nepali Sherpa team, serving fresh Indian-style vegetarian dishes suitable for pilgrims. During the Kailash Kora, packed lunches including bread, seasonal fruits, juice, snacks, and other light refreshments are provided to keep you energized throughout the day's trek.
Porter Service During Kailash Kora
Hiring a porter during the Kailash Kora is highly recommended to make the pilgrimage more comfortable and enjoyable. One porter can be shared between two pilgrims, helping reduce the overall cost, so please pack light. Porter services are arranged exclusively through your guide, who will collect the payment and assign a porter. Your porter will accompany you throughout the Kora, carrying your duffel bag while you walk with only a light daypack.
Horse During Kailash Kora
Horse rental is available during the Kailash Kora if required and can be arranged through your guide. However, Trek Ways Nepal generally does not recommend using a horse unless it is absolutely necessary. On steep downhill sections, some horse handlers encourage the horses to move too quickly, which can frighten them and make them difficult to control. For a safer and more comfortable pilgrimage, walking with the support of a porter is often the better option.
Emergency Transportation During Kailash Kora
During the Kailash Kora, an ambulance is the primary emergency transportation option if medical assistance is required. Since roads are accessible from several sections of the Kora, your guide can quickly arrange an ambulance and accompany you to the nearest medical facility. The cost of ambulance service is not included in the tour package and must be paid in cash. Therefore, Trek Ways Nepal strongly recommends carrying sufficient extra cash for unexpected emergencies.
Communication Facilities During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
Communication is generally reliable during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Mobile phone networks are available in most towns and major stops, and hotels usually provide complimentary Wi-Fi. However, internet access may be limited while driving or during the Kailash Kora. For better connectivity, we recommend purchasing a Chinese SIM card in Lhasa or at the border town, or activating international roaming before your trip. Mobile data offers the most reliable internet access throughout the journey.
