Overview

Chulu East Peak Climbing is one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking peak adventures, combining the beauty of the Annapurna region with the thrill of real Himalayan mountaineering. Rising to an impressive altitude of 6,584 meters (21,601 ft), Chulu East stands above the beautiful Manang Valley and offers climbers an unforgettable journey through diverse landscapes, traditional mountain villages, and spectacular Himalayan scenery.

This peak is ideal for adventurous trekkers looking to take their first step into high-altitude climbing. Classified as a moderately technical trekking peak, Chulu East requires good physical fitness, strong endurance, and basic mountaineering skills. The climb involves glacier travel, steep snow slopes, and the use of climbing equipment such as crampons, harnesses, ropes, and ice axes. While previous climbing experience is helpful, it is not mandatory when you are accompanied by experienced climbing guides and Sherpa support.

The journey typically begins along the famous Annapurna trail, passing through charming villages, pine forests, and alpine landscapes before reaching Manang, an important acclimatization stop. From there, the route heads toward Chulu East Base Camp and High Camp, where the real climbing adventure begins. Summit day is demanding but incredibly rewarding, with breathtaking panoramic views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu from the top.

At Trek Ways Nepal, we offer a complete full board Chulu East climbing package, designed to make your expedition safe, smooth, and successful. Our package includes all required climbing and trekking permits, comfortable hotel, lodge, and tent accommodations, and freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the trip.

You will be accompanied by our highly experienced licensed trekking guide, professional climbing guide/Sherpa team, and dedicated support staff who prioritize not just your summit success but your safe return home. We provide all necessary group climbing equipment, including ropes and safety gear, as well as camping tents, kitchen gear, and shared expedition equipment at higher camps.

We believe every expedition should be more than just reaching the summit it should be a life changing experience. With personalized service, strong logistics, and an expert local team, your Chulu East adventure will be safe, memorable, and truly rewarding.

Useful info

Nepal Visa
Getting a Nepal arrival visa in Kathmandu is simple and convenient. During peak trekking seasons, immigration lines can be very long, so it is highly recommended to complete the online visa form before arrival and carry the confirmation code with you. Paying the visa fee in cash is the easiest and fastest option at the airport.

Communication Facility
Communication facilities during the Chulu East climb are limited, especially at higher altitudes. Trek Ways Nepal carries a satellite phone for emergencies. Most lodges along the trek offer paid WiFi service, but the internet is unavailable during camping sections. You can also buy an NTC SIM card in Kathmandu Airport or Thamel and use mobile data where network coverage is available.

Climbing Gears
For the Chulu East climb, all necessary group climbing equipment is provided by the company, including ropes and safety gear. However, climbers must prepare their own personal climbing equipment and clothing. If needed, you can easily rent or buy quality climbing gear in Kathmandu before starting the expedition, with many outdoor shops available in Thamel.

Meals and accommodation
Meals during the trip are carefully prepared to maintain hygiene and provide proper nutrition. In Kathmandu, a wide variety of food is available, but it is recommended to eat well-cooked meals and avoid salads, boiled, and steamed foods during the first few days.

During the trek, hygienic and freshly prepared meals are served at lodges. While camping during the climbing section, our experienced staff will cook fresh, hot meals for the team. Accommodation includes three nights in comfortable 3-star deluxe hotels in Kathmandu. During the trek, standard mountain lodges are used, and tents are provided during the climbing and camping sections of the expedition.
