Nepal Weather Update: Stay Alert from September 24–28

Nepal is preparing for a period of potentially heavy rainfall from September 24 to 28, as a weather system developing over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal moves toward the region. Meteorologists are warning of prolonged rain, with western and central Nepal potentially receiving the heaviest rainfall.

For people living near rivers, river corridors, steep hills and flood-prone areas, extra caution is advised. Continuous rainfall can increase the possibility of flooding, landslides, falling rocks and road disruptions.

Travellers and trekkers should also remain particularly alert. Those currently trekking in the Himalayas, as well as travellers planning mountain journeys, should stay in regular contact with their trekking company and guides, check official weather updates and be prepared for changes to their itinerary.
