The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most sacred and spiritually rewarding pilgrimages in the world. Organized by Trek Ways Nepal, this carefully planned journey offers a comfortable, well-managed, and worry-free experience from Lucknow to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, allowing pilgrims to focus entirely on their spiritual quest.
Your journey begins in Lucknow, where the Trek Ways Nepal team welcomes you and assists with all travel arrangements. From Lucknow, you will drive to Nepalgunj, a gateway town in western Nepal. After an overnight stay and final preparations, you will take a scenic mountain flight to Simikot, the administrative center of Nepal's Humla region. From Simikot, the journey continues by vehicle toward the Nepal–Tibet border and onward to Taklakot (Purang) in Tibet.
Upon arrival in Taklakot, an important acclimatization day is scheduled to help your body adjust to the higher altitude. During this day, pilgrims can rest, explore the local market, and prepare physically and mentally for the sacred journey ahead.
The next highlight is the visit to the holy Lake Mansarovar, revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon followers. Pilgrims have the opportunity to take a sacred bath in the crystal-clear waters and participate in a traditional havan (prayer ceremony) on the lake's shore. Surrounded by the magnificent Himalayan landscape and the divine presence of Mount Kailash, this experience is often described as life-changing experience.
After completing the Mansarovar rituals, the journey proceeds to Saga, the starting point for the revered Kailash Parikrama (Kora). The three-day circumambulation of Mount Kailash is considered the spiritual highlight of the pilgrimage.
On the first day of the Kora, pilgrims trek to Derapuk, where breathtaking views of the north face of Mount Kailash can be enjoyed. The second day is the most challenging and rewarding part of the pilgrimage, crossing the sacred Dolma La Pass (5,630 m) before descending to Zuthulpuk. Along the way, pilgrims pass important religious sites and experience the profound spiritual energy associated with this holy mountain. On the third day, the Parikrama is completed with a shorter walk before rejoining the vehicle route.
Following the successful completion of the Kora, the group drives back toward the border and reaches Hilsa. From Hilsa, the return journey continues through Simikot and Nepalgunj before driving back to Lucknow, where the pilgrimage concludes.
Trek Ways Nepal provides a complete, hassle-free package that includes visa assistance, Tibet travel permits, transportation, accommodation, all meals during the trip, experienced guides, support staff, and comprehensive logistical arrangements. Our dedicated Nepali cook team prepares fresh and hygienic Indian and Nepali cuisine, ensuring comfort throughout the journey. Accommodation and Meals
Accommodation is provided from Nepalgunj until the final night in Lucknow. Hotels are on a twin-sharing basis throughout the journey. During the Kailash Kora, accommodation at Derapuk and Zuthulpuk is in simple guesthouses with dormitory-style beds. Separate sleeping sections are arranged for male and female pilgrims for comfort and safety.
All meals are included on a full-board basis. From Taklakot until the completion of the pilgrimage, meals are freshly prepared by our experienced Nepali Sherpa kitchen team. Pilgrims can enjoy hygienic Indian and Nepali vegetarian cuisine throughout the journey.
Porters and Horses
Porters and horses are available during the Kailash Kora at an additional cost. Porters can carry your daypack, while horses can be hired for the entire Kora from Yamdwar or for specific sections, including Derapuk to Dolma La Pass. Costs vary each season depending on local regulations and demand. Booking is recommended during peak pilgrimage periods.
Emergency Vehicle and Evacuation Option
Emergency vehicle and ambulance services are available during the Kailash Yatra with assistance from your guide. If you are unable to continue the Kora, transportation can often be arranged from Derapuk back to Darchen or from areas beyond Dolma La Pass, subject to road accessibility and local regulations. These services are not included in the package cost and must be paid directly in cash when required.
Internet and Communication Facility
Mobile network and internet services are available in major towns such as Taklakot and Darchen. Limited Wi-Fi may be available at some hotels and guesthouses. During the Kailash Kora, network coverage is weak and unreliable, especially near Derapuk, Dolma La Pass, and Zuthulpuk. Pilgrims should inform family members that communication may be limited for several days during the trek.
