Due to the recent floods and landslides, Ramechap airport has been partially disrupted, and the road connecting Kathmandu to Ramechap has also been damaged. Travelers now face a lengthy nine-hour journey using an alternative road that includes rough sections. However, flights between Kathmandu and Lukla are currently operational, and many travelers are opting for direct flights or paying extra for helicopter services to avoid the complications. The Ramechap airport has reopened after flooding, and flights to Lukla have resumed, but the damaged roads to Ramechap are still being worked on. For those traveling by road, the alternative route through Charikot is available, although it adds significant time to the journey.
To avoid this long journey, you can pay extra for the helicopter and fly directly. If you have a short time frame and still want to do everest base camp trek then suggested to pay extra for the helicopter directly. If you have time to do it then please try to start the trek via Jiri.
Have a successful trek!
