Overview

The Ruby Valley Trek in Nepal offers trekkers a captivating journey through the lesser-explored Ganesh Himal region, nestled between the famed Langtang and Manaslu trekking routes. This off-the-beaten-path adventure unfolds over 8-day walk, immersing enthusiasts in the pristine beauty of the Himalayas. The trek showcases panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal range, Langtang Himal, and Manaslu, complemented by diverse landscapes featuring terraced fields, rhododendron forests, and alpine meadows. Beyond the natural splendor, trekkers traverse traditional villages inhabited by Tamangs, Gurungs, and Ghales, offering a cultural tapestry against the backdrop of soaring peaks. Chalis Gaon stands out for its unique charm and traditional architecture, while a visit to the natural hot springs in Tatopani provides a rejuvenating interlude. There will be a regular cultural show at Chalis Gaon. With its moderate to challenging terrain, the Ruby Valley Trek promises an immersive and less-crowded Himalayan experience, making it an enticing choice for those seeking both natural beauty and cultural richness.

Trek to Ruby Valley begins with the scenic drive to Syabrubensi and follows Gatlang Village from where you can see the cultural differences. Then, we head to Somdang, where beautiful scenery of terrain, green meadows, and landscapes are seen throughout the route. Trekking through rhododendron flowers takes us to the Tamang settlement of Tipling village (2,087m) which is what many trekkers do not experience. We head towards Chalish Gaon where we will be spending a day extra to acclimatize and explore around. It has a natural hot spring here. The trek finally ends with a bus drive to Kathmandu from Dhading Besi.

We have to explore the village to experience the culture and natural hot springs. It is a busy day with interaction with locals and getting to know about their way of life. The best thing is to see how they communicate near the distance (shouting at each other). You can see school kids heading to school and locals how they work on the farm. It is really good. Not everyone experiences this.  In the evening local performs traditional cultural dance and music. This will change your life. It is not a touristic thing, it is their regular activity called Rodhi. Overnight at the homestay.
