Mardi Himal Trek from Pokhara begins scenic drive to Kande from the city of Pokhara, through the rhododendron forest to Australian Camp and to Mardi Himal Base Camp via Badal Danda then to the High Camp. Lodges are available with their own menu that offers delicious local dishes. Within short time period that trek offers very close views of the Annapurna range and neighboring mountains.

Itinerary

Our guide will come to pick you up at 8am in the morning in your hotel or preferred location in Pokhara. 1 hour drive to Kande which is a trekking starting point then trek trail leads uphill through the forest to beautiful Australian Camp. After tea break, we continue head up to Pathana where we stop for Lunch. After good amount of rest while having lunch, we continue climb up to Forest Camp for Overnight stay.

Our destination for today is High Camp. After hot breakfast in the lodge, we start our day to Badal Danda which offers fantastic views of the Annapurna. After tea break, we continue walk to High Camp through the rhododendron forest. Overnight at the lodge at High Camp.

After breakfast in the lodge, we trek up to the Mardi Himal Base Camp. Generally high camp is higher than base camp, but on this trek base camp is higher than high camp. Enjoy the views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail (known as Machhapuchhare), and more. Then trek down to High Camp. After lunch we trek down to Badal Danda for overnight.

Today is the last day of Mardi Himal Trek. After breakfast we trek down to Siding from where we take sharing transport to Pokhara. In the evening we will arrive in Pokhara. Our trek ends when we drop you off at your location or your preferred hotel in Pokhara

The best and suggested times to trek to Mardi Himal are mid-September to December (Autumn) and Mid-February to late May (Spring). However, this trek is possible year-round. We suggest you trek during the best time of year but we can organize if you need to trek during the monsoon or winter.

Yes, you need a sleeping bag sleeping bags rated -1°C  to -5°C as per the trekking season you plan. Also, our guide can provide you with an extra blanket if needed at the teahouses. It is always good to have a liner which you can buy here in Pokhara or you can bring from home

No, on this trek you do not require Crampons. There will not be ice on the trail to Mardi Himal.

Yes, you can buy gear in Kathmandu or in Pokhara. There are some branded items like Rab, North Face, Black Yak, Marmot, etc. There are local brands which are cheaper and still good for this trek.


 

It depends on timing, weather conditions, and your health condition. In general, you will be spending 30 minutes at the base camp. However, you can spend more if time permits or if your health, and weather condition is good. This is what you and your guide decide.



 

If you get sick, we will take you down if you can walk. Or you can take horse down (you need to pay extra for horse ride).

 

Unfortunately, you cannot buy insurance here in Nepal. You need to buy from your home country that should cover trip cancelation, trip interruption, helicopter evacuation, medical and health expenses etc.

There are menu available with a variety of choices. You can pick up any items as per your choice but please be vegetarians. Meats are not suggested as they are not fresh.
